ONGOING & UPCOMING

  • The Twin City Chamber of Commerce presents their “12 Days of Christmas Raffle” December 1st through December 16th. Drawings will be held weekdays at noon, starting Monday, December 1st. Tickets are 1 for $5, 3 for $10, or 8 for $20. The grand prize is $2,025 and will be drawn on Tuesday, December 16th at the Uhrichsville Elks. Festivities begin at 6PM and Santa will draw the winning ticket around 7PM. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards various Twin City Chamber projects.   • Registration is now open for the 19th annual Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Run for Home on April 11th and 12th. The 2026 schedule includes a kids’ run and relay, a 5K, 10K, the team relay, and the half-marathon. Participants who complete the 10K race and the half-marathon compete in the Run for Home 10K/Half Challenge. Anyone who completes both races will earn a special hoodie and awards will be presented to the men and women with the top three combined times. For the first time ever, the race is offering a $500 prize if anyone wins both the 10K and the half-marathon. To learn more or to register, visit www.runforhome.org.

  • Join Local History Librarian Kim Jurkovic for “Finding Your Roots” at the Dover Public Library on Monday, November 10th at 6:30PM. The program will feature demonstrations of the websites available at the library, including Ancestry, Fold 3, and Newspaper Archive. Jurkovic will also look at some of the more popular free sites that are available such as Findagrave and Family Search. She will help decipher the sites and give tips for navigating the information as well as share a few of the books available in the Local History Room that contain local genealogy information.   • VFW Post 1445 and the City of New Philadelphia will present a dedication ceremony for the new Veterans Memorial at Schoenbrunn Meadow Cemetery on Tuesday, November 11th, at 8AM. The ceremony will include comments from Mayor Joel Day and Post Commander Steve Chenevey. The memorial serves as a place for veterans, military members, families and community members to remember and honor the lives of those who have served in the United States Military.
  • The Tuscarawas County Public Library's main branch will host Jon Baker on Tuesday, November 11th at 6PM for “I-77: Build It & They Will Come.” Jon, a retired Times Reporter journalist, will share stories and photos of when I-77 was extended through Tuscarawas County in the 1960s. He will share how the river was moved to make way for the highway, changes, and the impact the freeway brought to the Tuscarawas Valley.   • The Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, November 13th at 6:30PM at the Dover Public Library. The featured presenter will be Gary Jakubick, who will present: “Rarely Visited Gettysburg Monuments.” The presentation will feature the often overlooked monuments at Gettysburg and the military action and significance of the various sites.   • The Tuscarawas County Public Library’s main branch will host its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 15th from 11AM to 2PM. The day will include cooking demos, live reindeer, kids’ crafts and games, and purchase gifts from vendors. Enjoy live music, cookies, and take a group photo at the winter-themed photo op.   • St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Port Washington will host its annual turkey supper on Wednesday, November 19th from 4PM to 6:30PM. The menu includes slow-roasted turkey, dressing, real mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade noodles, green beans, cranberry salad, a roll & butter, and dessert.   • OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties will host a veterans resource fair on Friday, November 21st from 11AM to 3PM at their Canton office. The event will bring together dozens of local organizations, agencies, and employers that provide services, benefits, and opportunities for those who have served our country.   • The Village of Dennison will host their annual Light Up Dennison and Christmas parade on Friday, November 21st. See Dennison come to life as local businesses and homes light up with Christmas light displays, visit local businesses for different activities, and watch the Clayland Lions Christmas Parade.   • The Tuscarawas County Public Library's main branch will host New Philadelphia native and author Doug Dummermuth on Monday, November 24th at 6PM. Dummermuth will discuss his recently published book, Going Postal, a fictional thriller that follows the spiraling downfall of rural postal carrier Fred Hart. Dummermuth will follow his talk by taking questions and signing books. Books will be available to purchase.   • The Jewett Volunteer Fire Department will host their 55th annual craft show on Saturday, November 29th from 9AM to 2PM. Shop over 50 tables, featuring handmade crafts, gifts, farmhouse decor, and jewelry. There will also be food stands. Admission is $2 and parking is free.   • The Mineral City Volunteer Fire Department will host their Christmas auction and bake sale on Saturday, December 6th. Doors open at 2PM and the auction begins at 3PM.   • St. Paul’s Community Church in Mineral City will present the Christmas Cantata “The Gift Goes On” on Sunday, December 7th at 7PM. The choir is composed of members from 18 different area churches.
  • The 4th annual Rudolph Run 5k Holiday Race/Fun Walk will take place on Saturday, December 13th at Strasburg Elementary. Registration opens at 7:30AM, the 5K begins at 9AM, and the fun walk will start shortly after. Enjoy hot cocoa and cookies after the race!   • Atwood Lake Park will host a winter solstice hike on Sunday, December 21st from 6PM to 8PM. Take a self-guided hike along the Woodland Trail and bridge by the light of many luminaries and candles. Then, head to the Activity Center for hot chocolate and s’mores!
